Model response

A seed may look still, but it is waiting for the right conditions. First, the seed takes in water from the soil. Its coat becomes soft and opens. Next, a tiny root pushes downward. The root holds the plant in place and collects more water. Then a shoot reaches upward toward the light. Small leaves unfold and begin making food for the plant. With water, light, and time, the little seed becomes a seedling.

Why this model works

Time-order words guide the reader. Specific terms such as root, shoot, and seedling make the explanation more exact.
